Il Giardino di Umberto

April 1, 2013

Porcini Scallops: Scallops encrusted with porcini mushrooms, fresh Thai chili tomato sauce - 3

J's comment > perfectly cooked scallops; our server made an error and got us one extra plate on the house, so we each had one full portion

Burrata salad (special of the day) - 3

J's comment > note to self, burrata is the way to go, not Bufala

Souffle di Cavolfiore: Roasted cauliflower souffle with a truffle pecorino cheese fondue - 2+

J's comment > good flavours, but the souffle had sunk by the time it reached our table

Penne arrabiata tossed with a Tuscan chili tomato sauce - 2+

J's comment > I generally don't like penne pasta, but this dish was cooked perfectly

Pheasant and Foie Gras Terrine: House made with balsamic cipollini onion, pomegranate jelly, micro greens & grilled crostini - 2+

J's comment > I prefer spreadable foie gras, but the combo of everything was great

Tiramisu - 3

J's comment > Delish! (FYI this was with compliments from the house)

Bread & butter - 3

J's comment > loved the butter, but needed to wait for it to melt a bit to spread. Cheesesticks were divine.

Pfaffenheim gewurstraminer 2011 - 2

Il Giardino on Urbanspoon

Extra Note
Il Giardino will be closing its doors forever on April 13. This was the 'farewell' dinner, AKA a last chance to get my 3's one final time.
