February 13, 2014

Foie Gras nigiri - 2+

(top to bottom, left to right)

Unagi nigiri - 2

Hirame nigiri - 2+

Waru nigiri - 2+

Ika nigiri (didn't try)

Bluefin tuna akami nigiri - 2+

Bluefin tuna o-toro nigiri - 2+

J's comment > Boohoohooo... not sure why the nigiris tonight just didn't measure up to the past successes :(

Tamago nigiri - 2+

Australian wagyu Nigiri - 2

J's comment > bummer... not nearly as good as last visit's :(, a tad chewier and a tad heavier on the seasoning on top

Seared à la table

Served au naturel

S.A.D.A. roll: Jumbo prawn tempura, red pepper, asparagus, tobiko & mayo w avocado - 2

Jumbo chicken wings - 2

J's comment > good and definitely better than Joyeaux Cafe's this afternoon, but the deep frying oil left a weird aftertaste on the chicken, and the wings were a tad salty

Gomaae - 2

Wagyu beef rice pizza w truffle mayo, onion salad - 2

J's comment > this totally didn't work as well as I think Sada-san wanted it to; the flavor of the wagyu was completely overwhelmed by the truffle, and the rice wasn't crispy as expected

Dessert 4 plays

Green tea mousse w mascarpone cheese - 2+

Hoji-cha macaron - 2

Cinnamon blood orange soda - 2

Souffle Grand Marnier - 2

J's comment > the souffle was a bit of a letdown - it was more eggy and bubbly than creamy and smooth, thought there were traces of Grand Marnier for sure

Sake kasu raisin ice cream w grapes, lemon jello, lemon olive oil cake - 2

J's comment > not bad, loved the popped crispy rice bits, but lacked something...

Pear Green Tea: Green tea naturally flavored w pears - 2

Kokanee - 2+

Asahi Black - 2
