Taco Feature: Carne Asada - 2
J's comment > not bad, very flavorful, but chewy and hard to nip off just a bit of one piece of the beef; you end up dragging the whole piece out when trying to break it off and have to gnaw at the whole piece in your mouth |

Cochinita Pibil: Classic Yucatecan pulled pork, pickled red onions - 2
Aguacate: Lightly battered avocado, corn and black bean salsa, jicama slaw - 2
Choriqueso: House-made chorizo with melted cheese, onions and cilantro - 2
J's comment > not bad, but not wow; La Taqueria's Carnitas still takes the taco when pitched against the Cochinita, and the avocado whilst deep fried very well, still needs a lil som'n som'n |
 |
Atun Tostada: Seared tuna, crispy leeks, avocado and chipotle crema on an open-faced crispy fried six-inch tortilla - 2
J's comment > fish fresh, loved the avo, felt a bit like eating a crispy Mexican pizza; the tostada was indeed crispy, if not a bit on the hard side |
 |
Tinga de Pollo Tostada: Warm pulled chicken, chipotle-tomato sauce, green onion, lettuce and crema on an open-faced crispy fried six-inch tortilla - 2
J's comment > first pulled chicken for me... not sure I'm a fan of same |
 |
Quesadilla del dia: Duck chicharon w pickled jalapenos - 2
J's comment > first duck chicharon for me, not bad, you can actually taste the duck flavor in the chicharon, and quesadilla wasn't just about the cheese although there's quite a generous amt in it; nice balance in the centre, but the filling doesn't reach all the way to the edges so you're left w quite a bit of wrap at the end. |
