#41 Pollo en salsa de mani: 1/4 chicken in a spicy creamy peanut sauce w Peruvian panca & yellow hot pepper, served w rice - 2

J's comment > not bad; chicken very tender; flavor of the peanut sauce reminiscent of Establishment Bistro's African chicken peanut soup but sauce not as strong in this dish; not spicy (I think the chef forgot to add the spiciness in)

#17 Peruvian Empanada (deep fried): Spicy shrimp (aji de camarones), shrimp in spicy creamy sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; loved the crust, filling OK, you can taste the crisp texture of the shrimp, but the taste of shrimp was most definitely absent; filling was actually spicy as advertised, and the sauces on the side were even more so; a shame this used to be a 3 for me, but just doesn't impress this time

#10 Yuquita Frita: Fried yucca (cassava) served with huancaina (Andean) sauce - 2

J's comment > another fall in rating; yucca was borderline dry (yes, I know it's a root and inherently lacks moisture, but you have dry fries and plump, slightly mosit fries too at burger joints); speaking of fries, these yucca fries reminded me of potato fries than cassava

#16 Peruvian Empanada (baked): Traditional baked pastry dough filled with chicken, onions and raisins - 2

J's comment > as noted in the previous post, the deep fried empanada has a much better crust; chicken on the inside was shredded and was not dry

Tiradito de Pescado: Peru's national dish, made w raw fish briefly marinated w lime juice and seasoned w Peruvian yellow hot peppers and spices; served w boiled sweet potatoes, Peruvian corn (choclo) and toasted corn (cancha) - 1

J's comment > haha.. AKA Peruvian sashimi...; not a huge fan of the underlying marinade, had a sour undertone (the kind that suggests something went bad, and not the tasty lime sourness as advertised); very spicy; cancha were like popcorn that popped and remained inside the kernel

#51 Picarones: Deep fried squash rings w molasses syrup & cinnamon sprinkle - 2

J's comment > not bad; loved the fry (crispy bits on the exterior, soft on the inside) and the mochi-like texture of the squash (like a donut!) but wasn't a fan of the molasses flavor

#48 Chicha Morada: Purple corn, fruits & spices - 2

J's comment > like a cranberry juice without any of the tartness; not too sweet
