Bamboo Grove

Pork stomach soup w gingko nuts - 3

J's comment > Bamboo Grove's signature dish! Looks creamy, but it's actually very 'clean' on the palate; slight hints of pepper and ginger that gives the soup the slightest nudge it needs; not stinky in the least like the Fatty Cow Hot Pot pork stomach soup base; FYI, this isn't on the menu and I think you have to pre-order this soup in advance

Remnants of the ingredients used to make the soup

J's comment > the meat was still very tender and not all dried up

Deep fried black cod w soy sauce - 3

J's comment > OMG... the crisp on this fish! I usually avoid the fish skin, but w the crunch on this fish, you'd totally be missing out if you don't try it; fish was so juicy despite being deep fried  (though it is black cod, so it's quite forgiving); not too salty either, despite the soy sauce underneath; another item that isn't on the menu, but you don't have to pre-order this

Pan fried rack of lamb - 2

J's comment > not bad; very tender, but not nearly as spectacular as the other two dishes above; also not on the menu, and you can order as many pieces (yes, even ONE!)

Pea tips in supreme broth - 2

J's comment > not bad; very tender pea tips, not stringy or 'old'

#101 Pineapple sweet & sour boneless pork - 2

J's comment > not bad; sweet and sour flavor a good balance, pork slightly hard though, pieces could be chopped up to smaller bite size portions

Sliced beef in hot casserole pot - 2

J's comment > beef was good, but dish was nothing extraordinary

Seafood chow mein - 2

J's comment > seafood was good, but it was obvious the seafood in this dish was of the frozen / defrosted caliber; noodles also good

Complimentary coconut pudding - 2

J's comment > the chilled dessert option; coconut jelly w traces of coconut flavor

Complimentary red bean soup - 2

J's comment > loved the flavor of the soup, but not enough red beans
