La Pentola della Querica @ the Opus

May 3, 2014

Braised short rib cassoulet, apple, bourbon and a fried egg - 2

J's comment > not bad, short rib tender; beans soft

Pancetta & porcini mushroom eggs benedict, served on pecorino biscuits w hollandaise & side green salad - 2

J's comment > not bad; biscuits were soft but cheese flavor wasn't particularly strong; eggs cooked OK

Kaiserschmarrn (Northern Italian pancake) w raisins, pine-nuts, cream, house-made jam - 2

Pancakes w maple syrup ice cream and walnuts - 2

J's comment > The Italian pancake was much thicker than the avg pancake (that's why we got both types, to compare); loved the crispness on the exterior, fluffy on the inside, but a tad too thick for my liking;

Regular pancakes were unfortunately just that - regular, forgettable, well made, but nothing mind-blowing, not like Kingston's pancakes

FYI pic shows a half portion of the two dishes above (the kitchen pre-split these items for us as two of us were sharing these two dishes)

Peach puree - 2

J's comment > tasted like canned peach juice...
