May 6, 2014

Grimm's, Bavarian Smokies: Original (sample) - 2+

J's comment > very juicy and flavorful; excellent wiener alternative when I'm not in reach of a Japadog bratwurst ;)

T & T: Sticky rice (mochi) w black sesame - 2+

J's comment > mochi was so soft and chewy (in a good way!); really heavy though

T & T: Cookie shell egg tart - 2+

J's comment > really crisp tart shell (like a cookie! ;) ); egg tart filling slightest bit dense, but most forgivable

Fuji: Frozen corn on cob (white) - 2+

J's comment > mmm.... goes so well w butter... :D:D; this variety of corn is more of the stiffer, starchier texture than the golden yellow ones that have kernels that are more 'watery' in the center (I do prefer this kind)

Canwell: Chinese pork and green onion pie (sample) - 2

J's comment > this is actually more like the Taiwanese pancake, but OK...

Black & White ice mochi: Mango - 2

J's comment > mochi slightly stiff even after letting it sit at room temp fro 30 mins; mango filling OK, but could use more

T-Grand, Assam: Milk Tea - 2+

J's comment > I honestly didn't think there would be a day when a non-Japanese brand milk tea could overthrow my beloved Kirin Royal Milk Tea, but I was pleasantly pleased to be proved wrong; this Taiwanese brand of milk tea was light, yet the milk tea flavor was strong, no cloying aftertaste; very well done

Kirin: Milk Tea - 2+

J's comment > almost, almost as good as Assam's above, and before today was my go-to milk tea; everything about this drink was almost exactly like Assam's, with the exception that the tea flavor was just the slightest bit stronger in Assam's

Natrel: Lactose Free 2% milk - 2+

J's comment > another surprise of the day; this lactose free milk actually tastes better than the regular type; very lightly milk flavored w no cloying after taste as is evident in most milks

Ito En, Oi Ocha: Dark Green Tea - 2

J's comment > I still prefer the Light version (see posting here)

Sunrise: Taro soy milk (sample) - 2

J's comment > I was envisioning the taro bubble tea when I saw this, but nope; just an avg soy milk product w subtle flavors of taro

Tea Time: Tiramisu milk tea - 1

J's comment > on a roll w the milk tea theme, I just had to get this, and boy did I regret it; whilst the cornerstones of tiramisu were there, (AKA coffee and chocolate), these two flavors nevertheless just clashed, for lack of a better word; avoid!
