Boiled spot prawns - 2+

J's comment > very very fresh; really a '3', but I could just as easily buy this from T & T myself and boil it at home, so I'll try and refrain from paying the premium at a restaurant for something I can easily get and prepare myself

Beef fried rice w extra egg - 2+

J's comment > you could taste each grain of rice, every single one of 'em plump and really flavorful; beef was OK; egg added a certain 'je ne said quoi' amt of 'freshness' to the dish; very well done

Free range chicken (half) - 2+

J's comment > juicy; flavor of chicken came through very well, no pretenses of any additional sauce; basic, but oh-so-good!

Wok fried diced mignon in pepper soy sauce - 2

J's comment > beef tender, but slightly overdone and tad salty

Complimentary chrysanthemum jelly - 2+

J's comment > tad too much gelatin, but the bits of goji, longan and chrysanthemum enhanced the jelly really well; the base (coconut jelly) was also a tad stiff, and slightly too subtle, but helped as a base in promoting the flavors on top

Complimentary red bean soup w sesame mochi ball - 2

J's comment > good, but was your avg red bean soup at chinese restaurants, w the bonus of a mochi ball

FYI, as it was Mother's Day, the menu was shrunken down to just what you see above, but thankfully, this translated to excellent quality control.
