Faubourg on Hornby

July 29, 2014

Croque Monsieur - 2

J's comment > tad too much bread and ham to cheese ratio; bread slightly hard; ham a tad salty

Ham and cheese quiche - 2

J's comment > egg mixture overbeaten as the center component was stiff; barely any ham and cheese flavors, just an overall savory, almost salty taste

Dessert of the month: Earl grey mousse w lemon custard & chocolate brownie bottom - 2

J's comment > not bad; very smooth and fluffy mousse and custard; lemon flavor a tad stronger than the earl grey; brownie wasn't too rich, more like a light chocolate sponge cake really

Signature macaron: Passionfruit - 2

J's comment > not bad; just like the previous macaron tried, Faubourg's macarons are more meringue crisp than creaminess; flavor well done though, definitely strong passionfruit flavors

Tiramisu - 2

J's comment > slightly dry, not very creamy; way too many lady fingers esp since the bottom of the tiramisu is already a sponge cake, making this tiramisu too cake-y

Eclair - 2

J's comment > stiff all around, choux slightly hard; not a lot of cream on the inside and not very creamy either
