Sushi Yan

#97 Good Value Bento Combo (F): California roll, tempura, chicken teriyaki, rice & green salad - 2

J's comment > not bad; creamy california roll, definitely more fake crab than avocado, but the ingredients were quite fresh, wrapped tight too, did not flop around upon biting half off; tempura fried well, batter very crisp and prawn and veggie cooked well, could have used a tad more batter though, for optimal crispness; chicken teriyaki flavor not too salty, chicken actually juicy w a crisp skin; FYI, this is currently on special for $6.99 until Jul 31!

Beef nigiri - 2

Toro nigiri - 2

Salmon nigiri - 2

J's comment > way more rice than fish, but the fish presented were fresh; beef surprisingly not as tough as imagined, almost tender

Complimentary miso soup - 2

J's comment > avg but wasn't watered down, lots of miso mixed in this

Extra Comment
Sushi Yan recently underwent a reno and no longer smells putrid, but the decor remains the same. Oh, and if you look at the menu closely, it also offers 'western food', AKA burgers and fish and chips... ... ... I was tempted actually, maybe next time.
