Russian Roulette Takoyaki - 2+

J's comment > very well-rounded takoyaki (haha...), seriously though, the dough consistency was well-cooked through yet soft; good balance of the sauce and mayo; FYI, I didn't get the wasabi one so I can't say how spicy it was, my dining partner handled it well, but he can eat spicy foods (the idea is one of the takoyaki's have wasabi in it, but you don't know which one, hence Russian Roulette); other than that, the other four balls were not spicy

Una don: Eel teriyaki on rice - 2

J's comment > not bad; well flavored unagi, not too salty; decent amt of meat, but still not a fan of the unagi skin; well-portioned rice so that you're not left w too much or too little white rice at the end of the last bite

Yukke: Raw salmon w garlic sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; salmon was very fresh, highlighted by the cleansing feature of the cucumber that was mixed in - brave move on the chef's part, if the fish was even the slightest bit 'off'', the cucumber would enhance this feature prominently - as it was, the salmon didn't have any fishiness to it; garlic sauce not very prominent though, but overall a refreshing dish

Nasu Dengaku: Deep fried eggplant w miso sauce & tomato cheese sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; eggplant cooked well, soft through and through; the tomato cheese sauce (AKA pizza flavor) on the left one in the picture was intriguing - definitely different! it actually kinda worked too; the miso flavored eggplant was good too, not too salty or overwhelming, it complimented the eggplant

Yabacolli: Broccoli w garlic mayo - 2

J's comment > not bad; this dish was actually served cold and was very refreshing, although the words 'garlic mayo' was slightly misleading, I thought it was garlic-flavored mayo, but nope, just garlic chips and mayo - this worked well too incidentally

Yakitori: BBQ skewered chicken (thigh x 2, breast, skin, Japanese leek) - 2

J's comment > meats just a tad dry; skin could have been a lot crisper; leek was, well, BBQ'd leek

Sakamushi: Sake steamed clams - 2

J's comment > strong 'clammy' flavor; sake not so much; decent broth, but nothing I haven't had before

Ichigo Daifuku: Japanese rice cake w strawberry - 2

J's comment > not bad; lovely mochi texture; had red beans inside the mochi that melded very well for this Japanese dessert

Matcha Tonyu Purin: Matcha soymilk pudding - 2

J's comment > pudding a tad stiff and the matcha separated (bottom half had way more matcha and was a tad strong, whilst the top was too milky)

Atsukan: Hot sake (large) - 2

J's comment > not bad; easy to drink; sake flavor prominent as expected, not watered down in the least
