Chicken “Pot Pie”: Rossdown Farms Chicken, Creamy Velouté, Lemon & Thyme Biscuit - 2

J's comment > not bad; very unique 'pot pie' indeed; this was more like a mild coconut cream chicken w peas and carrots (very fresh veggies and tender chicken BTW), all on top of half the biscuit and then topped off w the other crisper half of the biscuit; biscuit was very well done - fluffy and light, most amazing factor was that despite being immersed in a whackload of cream it was not soggy; I'd actually give it a 2+ but the coconut flavor threw me off a bit... I'm still not sure how I feel about the coconut but this was definitely unique

Fusili Col Buco Bolognese: House ground Angus Farm beef, San Marzano tomatoes, Parmesan Reggiano, garlic focacia - 2

J's comment > not bad; very well executed, esp on the pasta front; pasta had the perfect balance of al dente and bounciness, heeehee.. kinda like playing around w one of the 'old-school' land line phone strings; tasty sauce, decent amt of meat, but hard to grab the right portion of both pasta and meat sauce as each strand of pasta was really long; focaccia was simply drowned in butter, very soft - heaven.... :D

Grilled Moroccan Lamb Tenderloin w coriander & mint yogurt & pita chips - 2

J's comment > not bad; lamb extremely tender, went very well w the sauce - loved that there was quite a bit of sauce, most places just provide a dab; pita 'chips' weren't crisp at all, on the soft side but firm; lamb portion just a tad on the small side, but this is an appy and I don't particularly mind portions, in fact, the smaller the better for me (with cost considerations of course)

Triple Lemon Tart: Frangipane, lemon curd, vanilla cream - 2

J's comment > not bad; decent lemon flavor, texture creamy; frangipane (almond filling) apparent inside the tart, hats off to the dessert chef on balancing the tartness of the lemon w the milder nuttiness of the almonds; crisp pastry shell; despite not coming out of Bel Cafe, I must say it definitely gives Bel Cafe's version a run for the money

Black forest cake w raspberry gelee - 2

J's comment > not bad; more of a decadent chocolate cake; didn't really get the cherry flavors other than the two maraschino cherries on the side (although when I squinted at the cake I could see a trace of really dark red mousse between the layers of the cake); texture was like a lighter fudgy brownie/cake hybrid; definitely rich

Boulevardier - 2

J's comment > not bad; a tad sweeter than other Boulevardier's I've had in the past, but nonetheless smooth and easy to drink

Extra Comment
We had a TravelZoo voucher for this which is still available as of today!

BTW, our server advised us that 1927 and Reflections are NOT part of the Hawksworth & Bel Cafe group; Hawksworth and Bel Cafe just leased the space @ the Hotel Georgia. Interesting...
