Gramercy Grill

August 17, 2014

Sunday prime rib dinner (10oz) - 2

J's comment > not bad; very tender prime rib, loved the gristle (not too much though :( ); jus OK; yorkshire pudding avg, slightly dry

Burrata w prosciutto, oven roasted roma tomatoes, olives & toasted bread - 2

J's comment > burrata not bad; description on the menu was slightly misleading though, as it read "Burrata" in several font sizes larger than the other ingredients so gee, I guess it was presumptuous of me to assume there would be a much greater portion of burrata than the other ingredients; other ingredients were passable, but I'd rather have more, much more burrata

Italian sausage rigatoni w hot banana peppers & house made tomato sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; pasta cooked well; good portion of sausage; slightly spicy

Cornish game hen w braised shallots & red wine jus - 2

J's comment > not bad; very crisp skin; meat tad dry but flavor OK

Side of blue cheese macaroni - 2

J's comment > not bad; strong blue cheese flavor, very creamy; macaroni cooked well

Soup of the Day: Cream of cauliflower - 2

J's comment > not bad; very creamy; decent cauliflower flavor but definitely more of a 'cream' soup than a 'cauliflower' soup

Scallop potatoes - 2

J's comment > not bad; soft potatoes layered on top of each other w decent amt of cheese (needs more cheese  personally, but the amt provided should be good for most people)

Angus NY striploin w chef's blend mushroom jus - 2

J's comment > flavorful steak, but nonetheless just your avg striploin; definitely prime rib for me; FYI, the person who ordered this was so hungry he started eating before I had a chance to take a pic, hence the half eaten looking portion...

Braised lamb shank w basil mint pesto - 2

J's comment > lamb cooked well but a tad dry; not too gamey; didn't get the basil or pesto flavors at all though

Chicken livers w shiitake mushrooms, star anise & red wine jus, toasted tomato pan bread - 2

J's comment > flavors OK but livers a tad overcooked; bread was borderline soggy... needs to be crisper for a more contrasting texture

Parsnip & potato puree - 2

J's comment > slightly bland mash; needs more butter & salt

Mussels & Fries in thai red curry & julienne vegetables served w house cut fries - 2

J's comment > mussels were slightly overcooked; broth passable; fries were sub par - not served piping hot for one, and slightly hard/dense; 'curry' was just tomato broth, most definitely not a 'thai curry'

Bread basket: French baguette & house made corn bread - 2

J's comment > you gotta pay for bread here; baguette was not bad, soft but dense w a crisped exterior; cornbread was also OK, slightly moist, not dry at all for sure, you don't even need butter for this (although why wouldn't you? :D); butter though... horrible... tasted like fridge

Kronenbourg 1664 - 2

J's comment > not bad; nice and light

Menu

St. Germain: Black forest cake - 2

J's comment > cake slightly dry; cream OK

Extra Comment
FYI, there is a $1.75 per plate charge for bringing in a bday cake. Manager was nice and waived it for us, but warned that this was a one time exception.
