K & J

August 16, 2014

Bak Wan - 2

J's comment > not bad; excellent deep fry on this er.. 'veggie' schnitzel (it's actually more like an Indonesian pakora); but really, it was crisp and juicy (as far as veggies go); slightly greasy (well it is deep fried...), and tasted a bit like the pork schnitzel (probably uses the same deep fryer as the meat schnitzels - can't blame K & J though, not much room to put more kitchen equipment than they absolutely need

Wiener (pork) schnitzel - 2

J's comment > good fry, light breaded batter that was crisp; protein-wise, very thin pork that was pounded flat in front of my eyes when I placed my order; a tad dry though, but then with all that pounding, it's hard to get retain any fat...

Erdapfelsalat: Austrian potato salad - 2

J's comment > your avg potato salad... not sure what was 'Austrian' about it... potatoes were a bit on the firm side though, not mushy like I like it

Palatshinken: Austrian Crepe - 2

J's comment > one of the thickest crepes I've had, about 2 or 3 times the depth of other crepes I've had in Vancouver, eg. Bon Crepe and Moii Cafe; crepe was soft, but definitely has density to it; texture was closer to a pancake than a 'crepe' but then that might be the Austrian style; rolled tightly and was semi-easy to eat, the crepe staying put rolled up; flavors OK but nothing I haven't had before
