Terrace Restaurant @ Mission Hill Winery

August 31, 2014

Peaches & Cream w lemon, vanilla, rose - 2+

J's comment > smooth and rich cream but not heavy; peach sweet but could be a tad more ripe (and therefore softer) and even sweeter, would have liked it in smaller pieces as trying to cut a piece out of the whole half peach was slightly inconvenient; really liked the idea of balancing the slightly sweetened cream w the ripe peach though; reminded me of the gentle waves of the Okanagan lake at sunset ;D; really faint traces of rose

Poppy Seed Dacquoise w yogurt, melon, nectarine - 2+

J's comment > decent poppy seed flavor and texture; dacquoise slightly firmer than I'd like and not as crisp as I'd imagine a crisp meringue; lots of different varying textures and flavors that weren't a complete meld, but just the variety itself was enough to impress; notable fav items on this dish were the concentrated cantaloupe, coconut sorbet and use of sweet nectarine;

Variety of wines sampled (sorry, can't remember them all, I drank like, a lot :D), but one thing for sure is I didn't buy any so they weren't the worst, but not memorable either

Extra Comment
FYI, we stopped just for desserts as we had previously sampled Kira's creations (the Pâtissière @ Terrace) at Secret Location in Gastown and were so sad that she had moved to Kelowna. :( really hopes she comes back to YVR...
