Artisan Tea Bar

September 9, 2014

Artisan Grilled Cheese sandwich: Cheddar, swiss, whipped herb butter, sun-dried tomatoes, organic arugula, artisan sourdough - 2

J's comment > not bad; very cheesy; sun-dried tomatoes tart as expected, maybe slightly too tart for me actually; sourdough slightly sour, soft on the inside; edges of sourdough hard to chew through though

Chickpea Chutney sandwich: Chickpea pate spread, rosemary mango chutney, arugula, sourdough (vegan-friendly) - 2

J's comment > chickpea very creamy, decent for a non-hummus styled chickpea dish, essentially the non-grilled cheese 'grilled cheese' sandwich; same comments on sourdough

Butter Tart - 2

J's comment > tart shell flaky, but could be crisper still; filling very sweet, classic butter tart notes

Matcha Lemon OMG Bar: Matcha Cream Cheese Frosting, Graham Butter Bar, Lemon Basil Marshmallow Brulée - OMG!!! - 2

J's comment > insanely sweet; well bruleed marshmallow on top, liked the thin crispness; lemon flavor evident in marshmallow, but not too strong; graham butter bar on the 'fudgy' side; cream cheese frosting OK

Kyoto Lemon Iced Tea: Organic kukicha green tea, fresh kalamansi, lemon, lime, and yuzu, rosemary herb bitter, honey - 2

J's comment > not bad; excellent blend of all the citrus flavors that worked in absolute harmony with each other, not too sour despite the lemon and lime listed; not too sweet despite not having asked for less sweet; very fresh tea, one of the better brewed teas I've had yet

Matcha Avocado smoothie: Matcha, fresh avocado, condensed milk, 2 % milk w complimentary tapioca pearls, coconut jellies, and jelly bits - 2

J's comment > not bad; very thick smoothie w strong matcha flavor and good avocado undertones; creaminess of the avocado was slightly compromised by the miniscule chunks of ice that didn't quite grind down completely though; not too sweet despite not having asked for less sweet; pearl and jellies were all OK, but note to self, don't add them to smoothies next time - it's too hard to get the 'right' amt w every sip - save the pearls and jellies for less viscous drinks
