Damso on Bute

September 18, 2014

Damso Beef Taco: Hand stretched tortilla, beef, chili sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; tender beef, decent amt provided; sauce slightly spicy but tasty, unlike last time, the sauce this time around was the perfect dash of flavoring that didn't drown out the beef; tortilla just as firm as last visit, again, almost broke off when I folded the taco up

Kal Cooksoo noodle soup: House made noodle, chicken soup, beef - 2

J's comment > beef was really tasty and tender, but woefully not much in terms of portion size; soup was borderline bland; noodles passable

48-hour beef Osso Buco: Melting tender beef shank, potato, carrot, soy chili sauce, rice - 2

J's comment > sauce passable, nowhere near as good as the one from the Denman location, not spicy at all actually; beef was firm (note that the Bute location is offering the shank, which is a firmer cut, whilst the Denman location is offering the short rib which is more marbly); interesting point was that the shank here was a tad bland, whilst the short rib @ Denman was slightly salty

Korean SPAM sushi: House made spam, fennel kimchi, rice - 2

J's comment > way too much rice to 'spam' ratio; spam needs more flavor, but as advertised, definitely ain't the stuff from the can which, actually I prefer

Mascarpone frozen yogurt - 1

J's comment > frozen yogurts have to be soft, but this just threatened to melt into a puddle; the caramel sauce on top was just shy of being burnt
