Jammery

September 1, 2014

British Columbia benny: 2 poached eggs on top of smoked salmon & apricot cream cheese on a toasted english muffin and topped w hollandaise, served w oven roasted hashbrowns - 2

J's comment > not bad; good balance of salmon, egg and cream cheese, all three working in good harmony; cream cheese soft and more pliant than the stuff fresh out of the fridge; salmon not fishy at all; egg poached well; hashbrowns OK

Side of waffle - 2

J's comment > not bad; texture much better than the ones @ Joe's Grill (not just air); brilliant w butter & the whip; syrup was provided but maple would have worked better (duh...)

Chorizo Toss: Sliced chorizo sausage tossed in a pan w onions, peppers and oven roasted hashbrowns, 2 poached eggs w hollandaise sauce and green onion on the side, served w 2 slices of toast - 2

J's comment > chorizo not spicy at all, slightly fatty; complements OK

South African Boer Breakfast: Traditional South African boerwors sausage served w 2 eggs, grilled tomato slices, grilled onions, cold baked beans, oven roasted hashbrowns & 2 slices of toast - 2

J's comment > sausage slightly dense, not too fatty; complements passable

Jammery Favourite: French toast w 2 sunny side up eggs, three sausages oven roasted hash browns - 2

J's comment > french toast soft but not particularly flavorful; complements passable

OJ - 2

J's comment > straight from the carton

Coffee - 2

J's comment > weak

Sample tastings of the Jammery's jams
Raspberry jam w Kirsch - 2

J's comment > not bad; slightly sweet; strong raspberry flavors; didn't really get the Kirsch or cherry flavors though

Apple Jam - 2

J's comment > not bad; very subtle but present apple flavor, not too sweet

Japaleno Pepper Jelly - 2

J's comment > not bad; slightly spicy w a punch of sweetness

Blackberry fruit spread - 2

J's comment > completely sugared out, not much sourness or bitterness (the quintessential flavors of blackberry) to this jam

Plum Jam - 2

J's comment > didn't get much of the plum's sweetness from its flesh nor the tartness of its skin; another 'sugared out' jam

Spiced plum chutney - 2

J's comment > not spicy at all for a 'chutney'; kinda like chunky jam'; plum flavor not too strong
