Tuna & Spinach Goma-ae: Albacore Tuna & Blanched Spinach w/ Soy, Sake, Wasabi, Sesame, Tahini & Pistachio - 2

J's comment > not bad; very tender tuna w no tendons; good balance of wasabi, soy and sesame flavors; didn't get hte tahini or pistachio though; spinach also tender

Avocado roll (1/2 size) - 2

J's comment > your avg avocado roll; decent ripe avocado; ratio of avocado to rice OK, but tad too big and rice overcooked

Chicken Kara-age: Deep fried Maple Hill Farms free range chicken w special spice - 2

J's comment > chicken on the dry side; didn't get much of a crunch or crispness of the skin; tad salty

Age-dashi Tofu: Deep fried tofu in shitake dashi stock - 2

J's comment > avg tofu; skin sadly 'melted' off after soaking in the stock, but even the pieces on top had their skins fall off easily without ever touching the stock; so what was the point of deep frying an item just to lose the deep fry effect?

Lunch Special

Kushi Katsu: Panko-fried Fraser Valley Pork & onion w spicy sesame sauce - 2

Nigiris - 2

J's comment > pork was hard and in such a large piece that you really need a knife and fork to take it to task (not provided of course...); also had huge chunks of onions (the same size as the pork nuggets) on the skewer; brown rice on the side looked like a slightly tanned white rice and taste more like white rice than brown

fish on the nigiri was fresh and well cut, no tendons; rice though was way below par - slightly overcooked and too much vinegar

Miso soup - 2

J's comment > avg miso soup; complimentary w the daily special above

Rum cheesecake - 2

J's comment > firm spongecake-like texture, a Japanese cheesecake wannabe (like the one from T & T which is much better BTW), on the dry side; didn't get the rum at all
