Le Tigre

September 4, 2014

that "Fricken" Chicken: Le Tigre marinated fried chicken, chillies, garlic & shallots w namjin sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; chicken very tender and very juicy; slightly chewy batter but this actually made the texture even more interesting rather than turn me off; not too spicy

Kick Ass Rice w pork belly, cooked in sake, butter, lemongrass, kaffir lime and topped w a perfect poached egg, fresh herbs and thai chillies - 2

J's comment > pork belly OK, more fat than meat though; rice wasn't exactly fried, more like freshly cooked but too wet to properly attain fried rice category; flavor OK, but could be stronger overall; egg was perfectly poached as advertised, didn't taste the egg yolk at all (good thing for me!)

"Crack" salad: Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, cabbage, capers, cracked chillies, lemon juice, parmesan cheese - 2

J's comment > kale was soft, would have preferred it to be crisp; brussel sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli all cooked OK, firm and slightly crisp; well seasoned w the parmesan, not too much, just the right amt

Chef's special 'tea' - 2

J's comment > not bad; not too sweet nor sour green tea; interesting used of dragonfruit seeds, the texture was almost chewy, and very full bodied, I didn't quite know whether I should gnaw on it or just swallow
