[Update] Meet on Main

September 14, 2014

Satay Sauce & Mayo Fries w house-made almond butter satay sauce, chipotle mayo - 2

J's comment > not bad; addictive fries, soft in the center and crispy on the outside, some fries were completely crisp too - very fresh and served hot; didn't really taste the satay, but loved the mayo; FYI, we surmised that if the menu has a whole section just dedicated to the variety of fries, the fries must be pretty good - we weren't disappointed

El Revolucion: Dirty brown rice w kidney beans, yams and ground round – topped w pico de gallo, shredded cabbage, avocado cashew cream - 2

J's comment > not bad; rice cooked well, slightly al dente, very flavorful esp w the complements; I could taste every ingredient listed, and they all worked quite well together

Corn fritters w spicy chipotle aioli dip - 2

J's comment > strong corn flavors but not quite the corn fritters I was imagining (I thought they would be corn nibblets in a tempura-ish batter, the focus being corn nibblets); these were more like dense donut balls w a few corn kernels; slightly crisp on the outside but mostly soft and doughy

R & B Bohemian Lager - 2

J's comment > your avg beer, not too hoppy, easy to drink

Extra Comments
Edit: Meet on Main advised me that their burgers are actually made from Field Roast (a vegan grain product, more info: www.fieldroast.com). OK, I take back what I said below. That was sneaky... the menu doesn't clarify that the burgers aren't meat.

Although a primarily vegetarian pub fare joint, it was refreshing and appreciated to see that there is a section of burgers (yes, beef) on the menu for people who aren't vegetarians. Ironically I didn't get the burger as I was the chauffeur / just tagging along and had just finished dinner (such as it was) @ the Smoking Dog Bistro.
