Ça Va Bistro Moderne

Sablefish, gnocchi, summer squash, apple butter, dukkha beurre noisette - 3

J's comment > gnocchi were incredibly soft w a slightly crisp exterior, the perfect gnocchi in my books; sablefish cooked perfectly, moist, with each segment sliding off oh-so-wonderfully with the slightest touch; apple butter had just enough apple to make a statement; incredible dish

Pear and pecorino ravioli, preserved lemon butter, garlic scapes, walnuts, black truffle - 2+

J's comment > pasta well cooked, just the right texture, firm on the edges but soft in the center; very generous filling, lots of cheese; didn't get much of the pear, but the butter, walnuts and truffle (hint) made up for that

House made bread, organic whole wheat sourdough, olive oil, za'tar - 2

J's comment > not bad; freshly baked, very crisp (almost hard) crust, but center was very soft; would have preferred butter ;D 

Chèvre and smoked eggplant risotto, fennel, fig, green olive, arugula, sauce verte - 2

J's comment > decent risotto but very heavy; didn't get much of the eggplant, smoked or otherwise, nore the fennel and fig

Complimentary palate cleanser: Cucumber, lemon & salt shot - 2

J's comment > very refreshing; strong cucumber notes w a dash of lemon; not sour nor salty in the least

Complimentary brownie - 2+

J's comment > moist brownie, w the perfect balance of firm/soft texture, and the slightest crisp exterior

Chocolate and macadamia nut cake, merlot reduction, strawberry ice cream - 2

J's comment > visually looks like a brownie but was more like a slightly dense cake w a very chocolaty bottom; generous amt of macadamia but I thought was too much given the surprisingly light flavored chocolate in the cake; strawberry ice cream was good, tasted of actual fresh strawberries

Joia all natural soda: Grapefruit, chamomile & cardamom - 2

J's comment > not too sweet; strong grapefruit tones w a hint of the other two supporting ingredients
