Samkeh Harra: Catch of the day (red snapper today), tahini, onion, garlic, cilantro, tomato - 3
J's comment > incredible sauce!!! It's like really garlicky hummus on crack! Fish was also cooked right, slightly firmer than I prefer but still pretty darn tasty! |
 |
Hummus: Creamy chickpea dip - 2+
J's comment > hummus not as creamy as previous visit but still very fragrant and tasty; still as addictive w the Saj bread which by the way was just as good as last visit's (sorry, forgot to take a pic of same) |
 |
Darwish: Eggplant, zucchini, bell peppers, Mediterranean herbs - 2
J's comment > not bad; very tasty veggies; eggplants all very soft (the only way to eat eggplant à mon avis) |
 |
Makali: Deep fried cauliflower & zucchini - 2
J's comment > not bad; loved the roasted flavor that is so hard to get right; veggies all cooked perfectly, slightly firm yet soft enough to nibble on |
 |
Makanik: Beef & lamb sausage - 2
J's comment > not bad; decent sausage, good flavor and slightly juicy; definitely house made; not as dry as last visit's, much better this time around |
 |
Mohammara: Spicy roasted red pepper, walnuts - 2
J's comment > not bad; definitely a touch spicy as advertised, just as creamy as the hummus but w strong red bell pepper flavor; even more fragrant than last visit's
Tabbouli: Parsley, bourghol, tomatoes & onions - 2
J's comment > heehee.. this was like a veggie wrap of veggies; interesting, very fresh parsley, as if I was walking through the produce section of the supermarket
Batata Harra: Cubed potatoes, tossed in garlic & cilantro - 2
J's comment > potatoes passable, but wasn't as garlicky nor as crisp on the exterior as hoped for
Makdous: Pickled eggplant stuffed with chili & walnuts - ?
J's comment > unfortunately as this wasn't my sample platter I didn't try the wee bit of eggplant provided (just a touch too small isn't it? even for a sample platter?) |
 |
Falafel - 2
J's comment > sadly fell from favor from last visit's; still had a crisp outer shell but the balance was shattered as the shell was too crunchy even though the center was soft; all I got was crunch crunch crunch; still better than the avg falafels around town, but it's all about proportions people... |
 |
Seasoned Olives: Cumin, dill, anise, lemon - 2
J's comment > very lemony olives; didn't get any other flavor (yes, even the olives were trace) under the lemon |
 |
House made lemonade - 2
J's comment > not bad; very light, neither too sour nor sweet, a really delicate balance |
 |
Sumac-ade - 2
J's comment > had a hint of sweetness in the beginning but after the pink stuff disappeared it was just soda water |
 |
33 Acres of Ocean - 2
J's comment > J's comment > very hoppy; strong grapefruit notes |
 |
Trees Brewing Co.: Vertical Winter Ale - 2
J's comment > had a funny sweet flavor to it |
Menu
Extra Comment
As the previous visit's meat dishes weren't as great as the veggie options, we didn't get the same dishes this time around.
