Sauteed pork jowl meat w vegetables in satay sauce - 2
J's comment > not bad; very crisp pork jowl, also the least oily dish of the night |
 |
Stir fried scallop and chicken w chili pepper - 2
J's comment > both chicken and scallops juicy, not dry at all nor overcooked; oily dish though... |
 |
Fried rice w assorted seafood and avocado - 2
J's comment > nothing really unusual about this fried rice, your avg stuff; the 'avocado' was just really little bits of avocado as you can see, couldn't really taste it either |

Auntie Song's fish soup (small) - 2
J's comment > supposedly one of the signature dishes here, not sure what the fuss is about; decent soup, fish not smelly at all, but at the same time, slightly too much vinegar; texture not as thick as this kind of soup usually shows up as |

Pan fried Japanese style eggplant - 1
J's comment > flavor was actually decent but dang, the oil in this dish! I couldn't bring myself to eat a whole piece and hence despite the well cooked eggplant (soft and flavorful, but unfortunately these two points were achieved by drowning the poor eggplants in oil), I won't order this again, and hence the '1' |

Complimentary almond sweet soup - 2
J's comment > almond flavor present but not too strong; not too sweet either |

Extra Comment
Dishes in general very oily. Big Chef also specializes in hot pot, but not the AYCE kind. Parking (as is the usual on anywhere on Alexandra is a nightmare, but at least there are a few spots in front of the resto that are reserved w buckets for Big Chef's clientele, if you go early you will probably get one of these, otherwise... good luck.
