Danica's Baked Coffee Bar

January 2, 2014

Warm Potato Salad: Roasted thin sliced red potatoes, celery, caramelized onion, smoky bacon, Italian parsley rosemary tossed in a grainy Dijon sour cream dressing topped with a boiled egg - 2

J's comment > potatoes cooked well, tender, not hard nor mushy; good bacon flavor, although could use more actual bacon; onions caramelized as promised

House Made Pesto, Gnocchi: Fresh Basil Pesto, olives, cherry tomatoes, artichokes, spinach and shaved parmesan cheese - 2

J's comment > lovely bouncy texture of gnocchi, although a touch too hard for my preference; way too much artichokes though (this was the canned stuff too, not even fresh), making the dish much too sour

Oragnic local gluten free beef stew w organic quinoa, fresh vegetables and herbs, served w house-made organic bread - 2

J's comment > tender and generous amt of beef; flavor of stew good; quinoa visually present but slightly overcooked; bread slightly crisp, meant for dipping into the stew, but the texture of the stew wasn't made for soaking up; a decent dish, but lacked a certain je ne sais quoi

Baked Quiche: Baked smoked bacon, oven roasted cherry tomatoes, potatoes, fresh herbs, smoked cheddar cheese, house mixed greens - 1

J's comment > really stiff quiche, totally overcooked eggs; not much bacon or cheese, or anything else really; all I got was really stiff and overcooked eggs; pastry crust not soggy, but not flaky either
