Flamingo House / 紅鶴酒家

January 4, 2015

Pork ribs - 2

J's comment > good flavor, but meat tough and chewy, and awfully thin slices too

Water Chestnut Cake - 2

J's comment > slightly bland (although this is inherently not the most flavorful item to begin with), could use a bit more crisp around the edges; gelatinous texture firm yet bouncy

Egg Custard Tart - 2

J's comment > pastry not as flaky as it looks; egg custard touch too stiff and again, slightly bland

Preserved egg & pork congee - 2

J's comment > too thick (even thicker than the 'average' congee); flavors OK, but needed more actual pork

Garlic chicken knuckles - 2

J's comment > lukewarm temp deep fried foods never sat well with me; I stand uncorrected; chicken knuckles were crunchy though, that really was the least it could do

Pan fried pot stickers (pork & veggies) - 2

J's comment > defrosted supermarket pot stickers...

Baked BBQ pork bun - 2

J's comment > bun firmer than I like and am used to with this dish; passable ratio of bun to BBQ pork but pork not the tastiest BBQ version out there

Shrimp dumpling (har gao) - 2

J's comment > avg, slightly thick skin that tore easily; shrimp passable, but not as fragrant as Kirin's

Pork Dumpling w mushroom & shrimp (Siu mai) - 2

J's comment > as w the har gao, another avg siu mai @ lukewarm temp

Bean curd wrapped mushrooms - 2

J's comment > way too much bean curd to mushrooms, it really might as well just be bean curd

Shao long bao - 1

J's comment > absolutely no jus at all inside; skin too thick but meat flavor passable

Chicken Feet - 1

J's comment > really hard chicken cartilage! needs to be cooked a lot longer!

Rice crepe rolls - 1

J's comment > very doughy chinese donuts

Flamingo House Chinese Cuisine 紅鶴酒家 on Urbanspoon

Extra Comment
Flamingo offers the push-cart style of dim sum, but everything was cold! At best lukewarm. Out of everything that we ordered, nothing was even remotely hot. Really not the most convenient location either. Definitely pass.
