Ducks & Waffles: Foie gras & duck liver mousse, candy apple gel, hibiscus - 2+

J's comment > excellent waffles; crisp yet soft, perfect texture; very smooth foie and mousse, a touch salty and flavor of foie could be stronger, but very good nonetheless

Mushroom Pappardelle: House made pasta, green kale, parmesan cream - 2+

J's comment > perfect al dente texture on the pasta; the rating here is definitely favoring the pasta; mushroom is actually in the sauce, a few actual mushrooms but not much; sauce flavor could also be stronger

Steelhead Trout w fingerling potato, mussels, dashi broth - 2

J's comment > not bad; trout cooked well, a smidgen overdone but forgiveable; dashi broth light; mussels not fishy; potatoes and leeks OK

Deconstructed goat cheesecake - 2

J's comment > not bad; a very well done deconstructed dessert; notice the subtle triangular shape as if it were cut from the pie?; very creamy but a touch too salty; loved the crumble and honeycomb

FYI, 'Blacktail Restaurant' used to be called 'Blacktail Florist' but I guess the name affected their publicity (who'd have thunk you'd go to a 'florist' for dinner)? So it's now Blacktail Restaurant. Oh, and we had a TravelZoo voucher for this, which is still available as of today!
