Amici Miei

March 19, 2014

Ravioli Burro e Salvia: Handmade ravioli stuffed w ricotta and spinach, in an infused sage-butter sauce - 2

J's comment > not bad; lightest ravioli pasta wrapper I've ever had, a bit on the soft side, but very well done; generous amt of ricotta and spinach filling but a touch dry; sadly didn't get the sage or butter sauce at all, in fact it was a bit bland and would have failed if not for the generous amt of cheese we asked the server for later

Maltagliati Amici Miei: Pancetta, zucchini, cream, topped w crushed pistachios (half size) - 2

J's comment > not bad; very good flavors, an excellent balance of pancetta and cream; pasta was sadly too soft, almost mushy

Pappardelle Bolognese w traditional bolognese sauce (half size) - 2

J's comment > decent bolognese, but nothing exciting; pasta was also on the soft side, and was more like a slightly wider fettucine than a real pappardelle

Tagliatelle Boscaiola: Mild Italian sausage, assorted wild mushrooms, peas, garlic & parsley (half size) - 2

J's comment > pasta for once a bit more al dente, but sauce was basic cream, nothing extraordinary; sausage was kinda like poached/boiled ground beef, overall a bit bland and one-dimensional

Complimentary bread w DIY olive oil & balsamic vinegar - 2

J's comment > passable bread, served at room temp; it was fun trying to mix and match the oil and vinegar though

Extra Comment
FYI, Amici Miei is currently offering 30% off pastas @ lunch. The owner/manager/server allowed us to order half sizes, but I don't think that is usual for this resto. Also, most pastas are made on the spot (according to the server), so be prepared for a bit of wait.
