Mom's Grilled Cheese Truck

March 16, 2015

Marble Rye with Havarti - 2+

J's comment > ahh... brings back memories to my first bite back in Aug 2012 (how time flies!); just as cheesy (no cheaping out on the cheese at Mom's!), & bread toasted perfectly; crust still a touch hard, but lots of the soft center that I like; would have loved a slightly stronger flavored cheese in addition to the ooey-gooey havarti, but this was pretty good as is

The PMJ: Grilled peanut butter & mixed berry jam + bananas - 2

J's comment > the PMJ usually comes w/out bananas, but I tossed them in there anyways; very generous amts of all three items, but the bread tasted a bit salty, which threw me off a bit; also, the crust was a lot harder than the marble rye above; disclaimer, I ate this about an hour after it was made, so the quality was affected somewhat

Roasted tomato soup topped w basil mascarpone - 2

J's comment > not bad; on the sour & chunky side; didn't get the mascarpone (definitely needs more on top); FYI, you can get a smaller cup than the $5.50 for $4 like this one
