Mushroom Tart, Aged Cheddar & Pesto - 2
J's comment > not bad; very crisp tart shell, not soggy at all; creamy mushroom w the right amt of cheese; reminded me of MoMa's mushroom flatbread, but this tart shell was thicker |
Chicken Liver Toast - 2
J's comment > not bad; very creamy liver mousse w a good balance of the tart pickled onions underneath; there was a mild aftertaste though that I didn't quite like |
Mac & Cheese, Bacon - 2
J's comment > not bad; very cheesy, each piece of mac perfectly coated w cheese (I really dislike the mac and cheese that separate easily); pasta cooked well, not too soft or hard |
Spaghetti, Tomatoes, Meatballs, Basil - 2
J's comment > pasta avg; meatballs overdone, a bit bland |
The Pourhouse Burger (round 2) - 2
J's comment > Pourhouse makes its burger patties in-house, so we can order how done we want our patties; we requested 'medium-rare' but got 'rare'; we asked for a refire and thankfully got a truly medium-rare patty this time; patty was very juicy, and burger was pretty decent, but it just failed to impress completely; fries were served piping hot, but not as crisp on the outside as I like, but quite soft |
The Pourhouse Burger (round 1) - 2
J's comment > the rare patty burger; also pretty juicy but I like my patties (and all meats actually) medium-rare; except for tartar, cause well, it's tartar |
Brussel sprouts & pork belly - 2
J's comment > tasty and crisp pork belly, would have loved a bit more though; brussel sprouts firm and a touch hard, but good flavor; FYI this is only available during happy hour, 2 - 6pm |
Pourhouse dog - 2
J's comment > tender and juicy sausage, but much too little compared to the bun; FYI this is only available during happy hour, 2 - 6pm |
Roasted Bone Marrow, Sea Salt, Radish & Grilled Bread - 2
J's comment > very little bone marrow on the bone; smallest portion of same I have ever been served; not much flavor either on the marrow, but at least not gamey |
Kale Salad, Smoked Bacon, Croutons & Anchovy Dressing - 2
J's comment > crisp bacon bits and croutons that were addictive; kale leaves were fresh, but avg; didn't get the anchovy flavor (thank goodness) |
Bison Flat Iron Steak, Creamed Spinach, Pont-Neuf Potato & Béarnaise Sauce - 2
J's comment > tender bison, cooked perfectly medium-rare as requested, not gamey; creamed spinach tasted like defrosted frozen spinach, as S. says; pont-neuf potato passable, just a hunk of potato stick lightly fried on the sides
Mini Rant
Slightly peeved that the rib-eye has been taken off the menu. That rib-eye has truly been a solid win for the last 3 years (see previous posts below)! And Pourhouse now takes it off?! |
Chocolate Chip Cookies - 2
J's comment > not bad; even the cookies were affected by the chg of menu; the cookies were just the slightest bit underdone but still very good |
Old fashioned w bourbon - 2
J's comment > your avg old fashioned |
